    Haven't been motivated to play Forza Horizon 4

    I can't quite figure it out, but I just don't really have the enthusiasm to play the game. Before I continue, I'm not saying it's a bad game, I think as an overall package it's great, nor am I bashing people for liking it, if you do love FH4, more power to you and keep enjoying it!

    So I have loved the Forza Horizon series from the very beginning. I played the death out of the first, and I honestly think it holds up amazingly well, especially the environment and overall vibe of the game. I also really enjoyed Horizon 2, the setting was cool and the car list had a lot of choice. Although I thought the atmosphere wasn't as fun, I still solidly played it for a good year. Horizon 3 in my opinion was the series high-point. It had a fantastic, multi-terrain setting with beautiful weather and the environment and atmosphere just felt perfect. It also seemed to be balanced perfectly for progression, the game would reward you with a decent amount of cash and cars, but would not overwhelm you early in the game and give you too much choice.

    When Horizon 4 first came out (I bought the ultimate edition, as I did with 2 & 3), I played it for a solid month. I really enjoyed the soundtrack and I think the seasonal effects were cool. But then one day I just didn't play it again, nothing made me go "never playing that again", I just didn't feel any urge to play it and I haven't played it at all since late 2018.

    I can't put my finger on what it is, perhaps the "atmosphere" doesn't draw me in as much as 1 & 3. But I think it mainly comes down to two things. Firstly, the progression system seems waaaay to rewarding. I know this sounds like a strange criticism, but I prefer rewards to be a bit better paced, I don't like games that make your life hard, but I also want to enjoy each level of reward rather than everything being thrown at me. I feel like the other entries handled this a lot better, by giving you cars and letting you buy them at a more gradual pace.

    Secondly, I just don't think I find the setting as fun for an open-world festival driving game. This is no criticism to the location itself, but I feel as if Forza Horizon just works better in a multi-variety sunny terrain. FH2 and especially FH1 and FH3 did this absolutely perfectly, I felt as if I was at a real world festival celebrating cars and music.

    Here's the thing, I have played other racers since then. I played a good chunk of Midnight Club LA and I completely finished the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit remaster. I'm not sick of racing games in general and I still boot up Horizon 3 just to drive around in for fun.

    tl;dr What I'm trying to work out is am I burnt out (pun intended) by Forza Horizon or did a lot of people feel similar to me about FH4?

    FH4 online adventure loading hangups

    I've run across this issue daily for the past week. I join in a match or in between courses the game hangs up for a long time sometimes 5 minutes or more just loading the next area or "getting rewards".
