Well, well, well. Who thought we'd meet again like this?

I knew you were in for a surprise early-April edition of these tunes since I booked it off work, it would be the first real time since September I'd had where I could have devoted enough time or energy to assembling one. If I can go off on a life-related tangent, the last 6 months have been great - just myself and my boss, working our arses off to get her little family-run cafe/wine bar place off the ground, and we ended up winning an award just 4 months in! We both deserved some good time off, but never in a million years when we sat down and worked out a contract and the action plan did we think that it would be coming enforced on the heels of a global pandemic.

So with that little how-are-yeh completed, let's get back into the swing of things.

Snow Returns (The Trial)

We begin, as is traditional, with The Trial, and a cracking restriction to kick us off. S1|900 Classic Racers is chock full of great S1 Road, Dirt, and especially the kind of hybrid that is Winter Road. For this special returning edition, I'm going with my favourites - the Alfas. I did a new set of tunes for the 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2, but ironically the best one to come out on Winter tests was my old one, a hybrid that I originally designed to work on both Road and Dirt, which makes perfect sense. If you use the 'Race New' tune you will be marginally quicker in the first and third races for it, but you will suffer on the long, icy second half of Lakehurst Forest Sprint. The 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is a long-time meta for Winter Road and Dirt, and will fare extrememly well indeed.

S20.3 Winter Games - Mudkickers' 4x4

From one of my favourite restrictions, to an old nemesis! It went away for a while, we switched to A|800 for a few months, but now officially back for the third time in five weeks it's S1|900 Rally Monsters! Luckily for owners of the 1973 Ford Capri RS3100 FE, it's a Winter PGG in the Mudkickers' Adventure Park, so your unicorn will excel here. For those of you without this car, the 1986 Hoonigan Ford RS200 Evolution and 1978 Hoonigan Ford Escort RS1800 will do the job nicely.

As much as I dislike always getting S1 Rally Monsters, I loathe A|800 Offroad Buggies - especially when it's Cross Country. The OP vehicle in this class is the 2016 Ariel Nomad, but from past experience I know that the 1970 Volkswagen #1107 Desert Dingo Racing Stock Bug has got what it takes to show the tricky drivatars who's boss.

Neither Rain Nor Sleet

Okay, this is more like it. I love C|600 Classic Rally, and my 1965 Mini Cooper S tunes are a big reason for that. The no aero tune is really for the purists, but the Grip Rally one will really put the times down. I did a WR C-class Gauntlet time with it, except the Rivals blacklist bug is still ruining the mode, so it didn't save. Attached is a shot of the C-class Rivals for the third race in the series, Astmoor Rally Trail, where my wee Mini is in the top 10. If you're bored during the global situation, and need something fun to do, come at me on the Rivals boards!

Ice Truckers

Another great restriction, the fun thing about an offroad B|700 Trucks championship is that the game will say that the only eligible car is the Mercedes Tankpool Racing Truck. You don't want slick tyres on Cross Country. You want a 2014 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U5023. Two contrasting approaches are provided here, and they honestly aren't all that different. Both are better on the rough stuff than the black stuff, with the RWD version being slightly better than the AWD one on the tarmac and slightly worse than it on the dirt. It's up to your own preference and driving style to decide which one to use. Either way you're in for an enjoyable time!

These four monsters should comfortably handle anything a seasonal PR Stunt can throw at you.

For the Speed Trap, use the Ferrari, Koenigsegg or Mosler.
